What a moving story! I followed my brothers to Hebrew school and learned the Hebrew alphabet at 4 or 5. I loved drawing the letters and always thought there was some magic there. Their curves and squiggles were so elegant and evocative. I love the woodcut of the aleph at the top. You must be channeling your grandfather in some way. Nice writing, and art!
